We started demo on the decks and rails of the north unit today, removing the old decking, rails and joist hangers. Installed new 316 stainless steel joist hangers. Next step will be removing the rear of the privacy wall, adding a 6 x 6 support post in the center of the second floor deck, replacing the post and ledger bolts as well as the 6 x 6 support columns and bases, then pressure washing and staining the framing.

Replaced the 6 x 6 support columns today. Installed the stainless steel bases, new 6 x 6 columns.

Removed rear deck wall, added posts and header. Removed upper side stairway-that was fun! Now how to build the new one?

Week of 4-13

Lost half the week to bad weather, but we did manage to get the deck framing stained and get the upper deck rail posts installed, as well as the Azek decking.

Week of 4-20

Lost a day to rain this week, and another day was too windy to do any high work but we did manage to get the south unit's decking and rails stripped. We also installed the rails on the north unit's upper deck and the decking and half the rails on the lower deck. Next week we will get to working on the stairs and the south unit's decks.

Started the stairs today, more rain forecast this week but hopefully we'll be able to move around to the front decks by the middle of next week. The south unit is only a day or two behind the north unit.

5-1

Finished the stair rails on the north unit, installed the decking and rails on the upper deck of the south unit. These rainy days are really slowing us down.

Week of 5-4

I don't think we've had a full week without rain since this job started, and this week was no exception. Almost there on the rear decks, just some trim work left to do, then we can get the front decks done.

Week of 5-10

Installed the lattice and fascia trim on the rear decks. Started the framing on the front decks.

Yes, the post cladding is missing-they shorted us one set.

5-18 to 5-20(short holiday week)

Finished the skirt roof framing on the front decks, stained all the framing, ran the decking and railings on the upper decks. Happy Memorial Day everyone!

Week of 5-25

3 day work week due to the holiday. Installed the decking on the lower decks, shingled the roofs, installed the soffit and entry doors and the stair stringer strapping.

6-4-09

Almost there! Installed the lattice, fascia and post cladding as well as the lower rails. Also reinstalled the siding and started working on the shower enclosures. Only a little trimwork left.
